The Ordinary: First Impressions

I’ve known about The Ordinary for a few years now but have never got around to trying any of their products despite hearing a lot about the brand and reading great reviews. The most common product I saw people using was the AHA BHA peeling solution and saw some great results so I knew I had to try it.

I decided to try two products. The peeling solution(left) as well as the hyaluronic acid (right).

Hyaluronic Acid

Price – AUD$12.90 (USD$8.40)

This hydrating serum is made up of Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin B5. It is an oil-free and silicone-free serum which is also a vegan and cruelty free product. You only need a few drops in the AM and PM before applying moisturiser.

Impression: I found the initial texture of the serum to be thick and a bit sticky which was a little bit uncomfortable as I hate sticky products on my face. Once I reduced the amount of product I was applying it helped a lot and was more of a watery texture (to be honest you only need a tiny drop) I also noticed that this product is fast absorbing which is great. I don’t usually have dry skin but when I do I don’t like to use a heavy moisturisers, so using this serum with a very light moisturiser has become a staple in my skincare routine. I have quite sensitive skin, as in I break out with quite a lot of new products but surprisingly ever since I tried the serum it hasn’t caused any break outs. Honestly, I don’t think I have anything bad to say about this product.

Peeling Solution

Price – AUD$14.50 (USD$9.40)

The AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution has to be the one product I see the most reviews on. It is a 10 minute exfoliating facial. It is suppose to help exfoliate and brighten the appearance of skin, it is also suppose to help clear out congested pores fighting blemishes. This product is also said to help the appearance of skin texture and fine lines.

Impression: First of all, on the first use I could already see why this product is so popular. So you pretty much put this product on like a face mask and wait for 10 minutes. It does tingle a little bit for maybe a minute or so but it’s nothing that is too uncomfortable or unbearable. As soon as I washed the solution off my face my skin was insanely smooth, even the tiniest of pores on my nose was smooth. I have been using the solution for over a month & every single time I use this my skin feels as though it has hit a reset button. This product is 10000% a product I am going to be purchasing over and over again and is already a huge staple in my skincare.

Overall, I am most definitely going to be trying out more products by The Ordinary. Not only are their prices amazing and would save me the hundreds of dollars that I am spending on my current skincare products, but their products seem to do exactly as they say and work brilliantly.

If you have tried or use any of their products please let me know your experience, I’d love to try more in the future and would love to hear what you guys think about The Ordinary.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed or found this post helpful!
